Campaign Hqs

The Campaign Headquarters is the central point of operations for the November election.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is an example of operations during the
fall 2009 Campaign

Manassas-Wide Lit Drop
Dates: Saturday, Sept. 19th and October 17th
Time: 10:00 to 4:00
Volunteers needed:  Everyone for at least one hour.

The best way to get votes is to ask for them in person.  Manassas Republicans
will be doing that every weekend from now until the election, but we want to
focus on these two key weekends especially.  Volunteers will be knocking on
doors of Republican and Independent voters to distribute campaign materials and
ask for their votes.  We will have prepared walking papers for you, or you can
just walk your neighborhood.  Even speaking to 10 of your closes neighbors will
be a great help.  Meet at HQ at 9105 Center Street.

Campaign Headquarters
Dates: Every Saturday and Sunday
Time: 10:00 to 4:00
Volunteers needed:  1 or 2 per two hour shift

We have opened our headquarters at 9105 Center Street (the old Hobby Shop
building), right in the heart of Old Town.  Now we need to staff it.  Our goal
is to have the office open all weekend long, and then during the week when we
can.  Volunteers great visitors, sign-up new volunteers, distribute campaign
materials (especially signs) and answer questions.

Latino Festival
Date: Sunday, September 27th
Time 1:00 - 6:00pm
Volunteers needed: 6 to 8 for two and a half hour shifts each

This is a great opportunity to interact with a part of the electorate we have
not had much contact with, but whose votes are up for grabs.  Volunteers will
hand out literature and answer questions.  We will also have balloons for the
kids.  SPANISH SPEAKERS are especially needed.

Manassas Fall Festival
Date: Saturday, October 3rd
Time:  10:30am
Volunteers needed: 20 to 30 for two hour shifts each.

This is the biggest political event of the year for us.  Last year over 30,000
people attended the festival.  We need people to hand out literature, talk
about our candidates, hand out balloons and welcome people to our HQ.  Jackson
Miller will be there campaigning, joined, perhaps, by more of our candidates.
We need as much help as possible.

Farmer’s Market
Dates:  Saturday, October 10, 17, 24 & 31st
Time: 7:00am to 1:00pm
Volunteers needed: 2 to 3 per day

As you all know, Manassas hosts a Farmer’s Market every Saturday and Thursday
morning.  In past years, we have sent volunteers there to hand out stickers,
but this year we would like a more prominent profile at the markets.  We will
be renting a booth at the markets every Saturday in October.  We need two to
three volunteers to staff the tables.  Volunteers will hand out literature on
our candidates, answer questions, sign up volunteers, and generally be seen by
the folks at the markets.  This is a low-key event.

GOTV
Date:  Saturday, Oct. 31 & Sunday, Nov. 1
Time:  All Weekend
Volunteers needed:  Everyone

Traditionally, Republican Get Out The Vote Efforts on the weekend before an
election have been able to add 1% to 2% to our candidates’ margins.  That has
won us a number of close elections in years past.   We need help from as many
volunteers as possible to make sure we do at least this well this year.

Volunteers will be calling and visiting as many of our Republican voters as we
can this weekend to remind them to vote on Tuesday.

Election Day
Date:  Tuesday, November 3
Time: 5:30 am to 8:00 pm
Volunteers needed: 150 volunteers for at least 1 hour each

We need volunteers to work all five polling stations in Manassas all day.
Volunteers will hand out sample ballots, distribute campaign materials and
answer questions.  But your most important role is to simply be at the polling
stations to greet your neighbors as they arrive and make one last pitch for our
candidates.  We want you to be the last person the voters talk to before
voting.

A victory party will be held immediately after the polls close
Details to follow.

Contact Russ Harrison at (703) 335-8286 or russgop@yahoo.com to volunteer for
these events.  The Manassas Republican Party is run entirely by volunteers.
Nothing happens without your help.  Please try to find a couple of hours this
fall to help elect our candidates.  Thank you.

The Campaign Headquarters is the central point of operations for the upcoming November election.

Note:  We do not have a permanent campaign headquarters, but rent one for each fall campaign.

We have desks, tables, telephones, and usually even a refrigerator for the workers there.  We also have a private conference area.

At Headquarters we have signs, brochures, bumper stickers, etc. and do phone bank calling.  We also use that office to prepare handout materials, and as a focal point for various campaign activities.

Below is the Campaign Hqs map and photos for 2009.  The location was at 9105 Center Street.

Please join us during our election campaigns!
